Welcome to Union BJJ — a friendly, inclusive Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy in the heart of Manchester city centre.

Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instruction is rooted in the Carlson Gracie lineage. Both John and Jamie are certified brown belts under Parrumpa, a 6th-degree Carlson Gracie black belt, longtime head coach of American Top Team’s professional fight team, and mentor to world-class BJJ champions and UFC athletes.

Union BJJ has been running continuously since 2013, led by experienced instructors with many years on the mats and a strong focus on safe, effective, and intelligent training. Our coaching reflects the standards, structure, and technical depth of that lineage, with an emphasis on fundamentals, longevity, and real progression.

Our classes are taught in a supportive, no-ego environment where beginners and experienced practitioners train side by side. We regularly welcome guest instructors to broaden perspectives and keep learning fresh, but the heart of the club has always been consistency, community, and long-term development.

Whether you’re stepping onto the mats for the first time or returning after time away, you’ll find a welcoming team, clear instruction, and a place to grow both on and off the mats.

Class Schedule

🟢 Fundamentals & Drilling

Monday & Wednesday: 7–8pm

Perfect for newcomers or those who want to build strong fundamentals.

🟠 Advanced

Monday & Wednesday: 8–9pm

For students with some experience looking to develop their game further.

🔵 Friday: Recap & Roll

7–8.30pm

A relaxed, open session to review key concepts and spar with teammates.
